Grigoryevna Tyapkina

Russia • 1918−1997
Born in the village of Bazanovo, Chita region in a peasant family. For some time she worked as a cleaner, assistant projectionist, but Tyapkina's main profession was a dressmaker. She began to draw in 1966, and already the first drawings reached the all-Union exhibition of works by amateur artists. For several years she received consultations at ZNUI. Among the paintings there are industrial landscapes and works on scenes from the life of the Decembrists in the Chita link, but the fame of the artist was still lifes and carpet compositions of flowers, in which her decorative gift was clearly manifested. Many experts include Tyapkina among the top 10 naive artists in Russia.
