Born in the Krasnoyarsk Territory in a working class family. After graduating from elementary school, he worked in fisheries in Sakhalin. He suffered a serious illness, received a disability and moved to the Amur Region, where he began to independently engage in drawing and painting. In 1957-1962 he received consultations at ZNUI.
