Description of the artwork «For the Russian Land! Entry of Dmitry Donskoy with an army to Kolomna»

"For the Russian land! Entry of Dmitry Donskoy with an army to Kolomna" oil on canvas 195 х 360 years of creation:
1957 - 1980 G.P. Sorogin, Honored Artist of Russia.

Before you is a wonderful historical painting "For the Russian land." Dmitry Donskoy's entrance to Kolomna. " G.P.Sorogin, Honored Artist of Russia.

My father was always worried about the fate of Russia and was interested in its great historical past. The sketch for the painting was written in 1957. In 1980, in Kolomna, Gennady Pavlovich held a personal exhibition. At it, for the first time, he introduced the audience to his new work, a sketch for the painting "Dmitry's Entry Donskoy in Kolomna. "The sketch is interesting in composition, beautiful in color. It is perceived as a finished work. In 1985, at the II-nd zonal exhibition" Moscow Region ", the painting" For the Russian Land! "Was exhibited. The painting, as noted by many, was painted in beautiful traditions of the Russian realistic school. The composition of the canvas is built diagonally, it is dynamic, the coloring is restrained, tense, alarming. In the center is Dmitry Donskoy, he came to Kolomna to defend the Russian land from foreign aliens together with his soldiers. He is on a white horse, an orange cloak distinguishes him from the crowd, making him the main figure of the composition. In his appearance, courage, determination, steadfastness, confidence in the righteousness of his mission. He addresses the soldiers with a parting Word, raising their fighting spirit and confidence in Victory. The priest blesses them for a righteous feat. Saturated, active, dense color fills the pictorial form of the work with living content. Powerful colors, bold strokes. give the viewer an opportunity to feel the severity. anxiety of those days, confidence in victory for a just cause. The picture fosters a sense of duty to the Motherland, patriotism.

From the history:
In August 1380, the Moscow Grand Duke Dmitry Ivanovich gathered in Kolomna all the Russian squads for a campaign against the horde of Khan Mamai.

14 (27 n.st.) - arrived from Moscow on his own,

15 (28 AD) on the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos - he appointed inspections at Kolomna Maiden Field.

Maiden's Field is the land on the left bend of the Oka, "a beautiful steep, from where a breathtaking view opens."
Prince Dmitry gathers his troops here.

This is an energetically strong place, since ancient times it was considered "blissful".
No wonder, here stood shoulder to shoulder until recently, the feudal princes with each other with their squads.
The ratis were placed as they should be on the battlefield.

Prince Dmitry has a special relationship with the Russian land. Before the battle, he eats a handful of earth, travels around the future battlefield and listens to the earth.

Grand Duke Dmitry Ivanovich asks for blessing for the battle from Sergius from the Radonezh forest (! At whose call the prince's troops were assembled).
And he also takes two monks - Oslyablya and Peresvet.

On September 8 (21), on the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos, Prince Dmitry with Russian squads will go to the Kulikovo Field,
under the banners of the Mother of God, in a simple shirt and with a shield with the image of the Solar Circle ("Head of the Sun").
And he will win an unthinkable victory over the Golden Horde darkness.
