Description of the artwork «No $ 9»
The engraved plate No. 49 was purchased in 2004 from an Arab trader (Syrian) at a Central Asian bazaar with a receipt from the current owner.The engraving plate No 49, approx. 25 cm diameter, silver alloy, produced between 1830 - 1845. Dreden - Meissen. Conceived by CG Carus according to internal engraving instructions (miniature images), accompanied by CD Friedrich, under whose direction GF Kersting produced. Client: Johann King of Saxony (king since 1854). The central picture, plate base, was based on the motif of William Hogarth "Canvassing for Votes", is aligned to an independent visual language by changing features in the engraving picture. Examples of images in the micrometer dimension in the engraved image of No 49 (approx. 40 micrometer engravings complement the engraved image thematically.
