Biography and information

Painter of the Dutch school of art developed in Italy, under the guidance of his father. He wrote the seaside types, ports, landscapes with ruins, palaces and other buildings of Italian style, inside rural cabins, Inns, fairs, the laboratories of alchemists; in some respects it is reminiscent of the style of Pieter van Laer (Pieter van Laer). He wrote and figures of minor importance in the subjects of his paintings, but his landscapes are shapes, to write to ADR. Van de Velde. The name Vika is preserved in the archives of the workshop of artists known as the Church of St. Luke; in 1660 Vic was appointed senior (Dean) of this workshop. He was also engaged in the engraving strong vodka scenes and landscapes in the taste of Lara; his engravings, with observance of light and shade, are of great rarity. Painting Vika nice warm color, but it cannot be regarded as national artist. Long stay in Italy, the sketches made there, which he used for his later paintings, — all this greatly weakens its value in the Dutch school, although there are several of his paintings depicting the inside Dutch homes, landscapes with dunes, etc. In the Hermitage are three of his paintings: "a Scholar reading", "Scientist for written work" and "the Alchemist in his laboratory".
