Alexander Ivanovich Shavrin

Born in 1959

The work of Alexander Shavrin is associated with the traditions of realistic painting. An excellent draftsman, he pays great attention to the shape of the depicted objects, their outline and details, silhouette and plastic. The constructive graphic nature of many of his works does not detract from their pictorial merits: in operating with local colors, the artist chooses the only correct color tone that reveals the figurative essence of the "investigated" object.
The world of objects in all the variety of topics takes on a new content on the canvases of Alexander Shavrin. The author's interpretations of reality, familiar at first glance, induce the viewer to find and “try on” his own hidden associations to what he saw.
The genre of still life became the main creative preference of Alexander Shavrin. Observing the life of things, the artist in his works consciously and programmatically opens the boundaries of the concepts of "living" and "inanimate" nature. The heroes of his paintings - sea shells and fruits, glass vessels and ceramic pots, dry branches and freshly picked flowers - are laconic, restrained, but equally filled with vital energy and individual meaning.
