Description of the artwork «Samurai helmet hat jingasa hat»

Jingasa is a hat-shaped helmet used by various segments of the population from samurai to common people. Japan, Edo period (1603-1868).
Made of 1.5 mm thick steel. Diameter - 45 cm.
Consists of eight plates riveted together. Aged by natural rusting. The hole on the top of the head - tachen - is decorated with patterned rings of copper and bronze - hatimanza. Decorated with a snail made of copper.
