Biography and information
Irina Pecherskikh (born 1972)
Moscow State Academy of Arts and Industry named after S. G. Stroganov - from 1990 to 1994, she studied at the Faculty of Design, in 1994 she transferred to the faculty of monumental and decorative painting and graduated in 1998.
Resident of Cité Internationale des Arts Paris (2017, 2018)
Member of the Moscow Union of Artists. Works in Moscow and Bulgaria
In the noughties she traveled around Europe, exhibited in Luxembourg, Helsinki, in Plovdiv, her paintings were exhibited at fairs. She experimented with printmaking, collaborating with such recognized printmakers as Alexei Parygin (St. Petersburg), Alexei Orlovsky (Moscow).
After the pandemic began, she found herself isolated in Bulgaria without the paints and canvases she needed to work. Thus a series of still lifes (acrylic on paper plus tempera) with amazing lines and expressions was born. Art historian Maya Semina believes that in this series: "Pechersky achieves a pure and sharp form, reducing everything superfluous, unnecessary, feeling his own plastic aesthetic. The abstractions (still lifes) with their exaggerated flatness, refined line and charm of poetic overtones resemble sketches for stained glass windows". This series of works was exhibited at Art Russia Fair in 2021 and almost completely sold out.
