Painting, 1970, 29.7×41.7 cm

Description of the artwork «"FOREST GUEST"»

Original painting. Date of creation: 1970.
Size: 29.7 × 41.7 cm.
Materials: Paper. Colored pencil.

This squirrel in the 70s was a decoration of the Central Siberian Botanical Garden and a favorite of local residents of Novosibirsk Akademgorodok.
In the context of biblical stories, the squirrel is like a symbol of Divine Providence.
The drawing of a squirrel is done on a piece of felt paper with colored pencils. There are many techniques in drawing with colored pencils, as many as there are effects that can be achieved with a pencil. How a pencil is sharpened, how you hold it, and how much pressure you apply to it determines the effect you achieve when drawing. With a pencil you can create both soft combinations and dazzlingly bright realistic textures, mixing and shading colors is done directly on the surface of the paper. With layers, you can get new colors, new shades. To intensify the color, you need to apply more layers on top, and to dull it, use a contrasting color.
The painting is a single copy.
