Cabildo abierto del 22 de mayo de 1810 is a painting by Chilean artist Pedro Subercaseaux. It reflects the artist's interpretation of the events of the Cabildo abierto held in Buenos Aires on May 22, 1810, which was one of the high points of the May Revolution.
In accordance with European historicist currents, Subercaseaux sought to choose a decisive moment, recreate the atmosphere and give it the required magnificence. To carry out the lighting and perspective studies, he relied on contemporary photos of the interior of the Cabildo of Buenos Aires, although it had been remodeled and was no longer similar to that of the viceregal era. The moment represented is the one in which Juan José Paso, who stands out from the crowd on the left, speaks. In the right crowd, in front, Mariano Moreno is represented with a serious and worried gesture. On the right, standing out for his eight-foot stature, Buenaventura Arzac, who was considered "the biggest giant"
