Nikolai
Mikhailovich Shutov

born in 1941
Painter and landscape artist. Honored Worker of Culture of Russia.
Nikolai Shutov has etude painting, he works in plein air - he continues the tradition of Russian impressionists. He works mainly in nature, all the artist's feelings are aggravated in the process of painting, he lives every detail. During the 20 years Nikolai Shutov painted more than 300 works, most of which he gave away, so the artist jokingly calls himself a cobbler without boots. His paintings seamlessly fit into the interior, allow the owners to immerse themselves in the atmosphere and mentally transported into the alluring landscape. The artist was awarded the title of Honored Worker of Culture of Russia, he taught at an art school for a long time, and after retirement he took up his favorite occupation - painting sketches and landscapes. He also enjoys fishing and spends his free time in the garden. The landscape genre has dominated Shutov's work since 1995, when, having become a free artist, he entered into a confidential dialogue with nature. The result of each such "conversation" is the birth of a new canvas, interesting and unique in color. Nicholas - a multiple winner of the urban thematic exhibition "Palette of Ishim", a permanent member of the jury of the inter-regional competition for children's art "Spring Rainbow". By the way, the landscape painter stood at the origins of the children's art school. - Nikolay Shutov recollects about his pedagogical activity, - he had time to take photos, draw sketches. Among his students is Ishim landscape painter Boris Smolin, famous for his Yessenin motifs of painting. At art school Shutov met and wonderful like-minded Valentin Manukhin, who became his true friend. Their joint, to this day, skiing trips enrich the artists with new impressions and serve as a great stimulus for creating new masterpieces. The artist himself confesses his love for every season, always capturing the grace of nature in oil paints and framing the finished work in hand-made frames. - Originally I wanted to learn carpentry, - the painter confesses, - but the summons from Tyumen trade school came too late, so together with a friend I went to the railway school. I was among the first group of students that was to be trained as assistant drivers of diesel locomotives. For two years I was working by profession, then - as a design technician in an operating shop of the depot... The cup of beauty in his further biography gave him a significant advantage and caused him to receive a higher education in the graphic arts department of the Omsk Pedagogical Institute named after Gorky. It was not without reason that Gogol insisted: "Poetry and painting are kindred sisters". Indeed, without a poetic perception of life it is impossible to be an original landscape painter, which is our artist. He is gifted from above with his soul's sharpness, heartfelt richness, and love for nature and people. In Shutov's works man and nature coexist harmoniously. Looking at his paintings, saturated with vital sap and air, you sing along to the "May chorus of birches and poplars", you stop by the serene water surface on a sultry summer day or you create patterns of yellow, green and red together with autumn.
