As soon as the last piece of the puzzle clicked into place, all the mirrors went into motion. The hidden mechanisms turned each shard to a new angle with a barely audible but perceptible murmur of rotating stone gears.
Instead of a reflection, Thomas saw through the cellular window himself in a garden with dimly glowing trees that looked like coral or colored seaweed. The fog obscured most of the landscape, but it was obvious that he was clutching a small object to his chest with both hands. A bright Glow was seeping through his fingers.
