From 1913 to 1923 he taught painting and drawing in the Vologda teacher's and pedagogicheskom Institute. January 1924 and the subsequent 17 years working in the Vologda Museum. To him belongs the merit of organizing the art Department of the first exhibitions of ancient art and restoration workshop of the Museum.
