Milton Avery. American colorist

Ausstellung 15 Juli − 16 Oktober
The Royal Academy of Arts, London holds an exhibition "Milton Avery. American Colorist.".

For the first time, a European project presents more than 70 works by Milton Avery from the 1930s to the 1960s, considered to be the artist's best-known and most striking paintings. Avery, worshipped by abstract expressionists Mark Rothko and Barnett Newman, expressed his vision of the world through harmonious colors and simplified forms.

Milton Clark Avery is considered one of the greatest colorists of 20th-century America. The artist's career came between the American Impressionist and Abstract Expressionist movements. His amazing sense of color and balance created a style that greatly influenced a future generation of artists. According to Rothko, Avery celebrated the world around him with a poetry that "penetrated every pore of the canvas to the very last touch of the brush."
