Columbus Museum of Fine Arts invites you to visit a large-scale exhibition
"The Gift of a Generation: Building a Scantland Collection".
The exhibition includes large format paintings, examples of chamber paintings, sculptures, installations and photographs by 27 contemporary American artists including Cody Brown, Aaron Gilbert, Jonathan Lyndon Chase and others.
The Columbus Art Museum's renowned collection of modern paintings consists largely of pieces from once-private contemporary art collections. Donated in 1931, the Ferdinand Hovald collection included significant works
Charles DemuthArthur Dove, Marsden Hartley,
Diego Riveraas well as the Europeans Georges Braque,
Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso. The CMA subsequently acquired the Syracq Collection of Impressionism and European Modernism, the Schiller Collection of American Social Commentary Art, 1930-1970, and the large New York Photo League Collection.
