Cosmism in Russian art

The State Russian Museum in the Benois Corps holds an exhibition "Cosmism in Russian Art".

The exhibition for the first time brings together works by famous and lesser-known masters, whose work reflects different aspects of the ideas of cosmism, clearly manifested in Russian science and philosophy. Paintings and drawings by Vasily Kandinsky, Kazimir Malevich, Ivan Kudryashev, Mikhail Matyushin and other masters of abstract art will be shown next to works by artists who remained within the framework of object forms, but who made their art content the ideas about the planet Earth or the universe, consonant with new discoveries in science and philosophy.

The large-scale exhibition brought together over 150 paintings and drawings from the collection of the Russian Museum, the State Tretyakov Gallery, the Museum of Cosmonautics in Moscow, the Tver Regional Picture Gallery and the Novosibirsk State Art Museum, as well as from private collections in St. Petersburg and Moscow.
