The Art Institute of Chicago invites you to visit the exhibition
"Morris & Company: The Business of Beauty.".
The exhibition includes drawings, handmade tapestries, wallpaper, fabrics, more than 40 works from the museum's collection.
Artist, designer, and writer William Morris (1838-1896) founded Morris & Co. 160 years ago, in 1861. The company quickly gained notoriety for the objects it designed and made for home interiors. Morris' style became synonymous with the British Arts and Crafts movement of the late 19th century. William Morris and his collaborators, including his wife Jane Burden Morris, youngest daughter May Morris, craftsman and designer John Henry Dirle, and such famous artists as Edward Burne-Jones and Dante Gabriel Rossetti, considered themselves design reformers. Their mission was to bring beauty back into the lives of their consumers.
