Tshabalala Self. Running in the wink

Hughes Museum presents“Running in the Wink Room” - the first solo exhibition of the American artist Tshabalaly Self in China. A new series of her paintings, sculptures, photographs and videos offers viewers a better understanding of the life of black Americans in the metropolis.
The atmosphere of the “vinarki” in the gallery is created, in particular, by sculptures of wooden boxes on which viewers can sit down and feel themselves in a bodega.
Tshabalala Self lives and works in New York and New Haven. Her solo exhibitions were held in Glasgow, London, Naples and Los Angeles. She was also a member of group expositions in New York, Miami, Harlem, etc.
