Cubism at the Pompidou Center

Center Pompidouexamines in detail One of the fundamental artistic movements of our time is cubism, which covers the period from 1907 to 1917.

This is the first exhibition in France devoted to cubism since 1953. The originality of the project lies in its new position, expanding the view on this style, which is usually associated with two founders - Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso. These pioneers were soon followed by Fernand Leger and Juan Gris, and artists such as Albert Glez, Jean Metzinger, Francis Picabia, Marcel Duchamp, Robert and Sonia Delone turned the attention of critics and the public to the movement.

The exhibition has 300 works and documents illustrating the influence of cubism. The exposition is built chronologically in fourteen sections. The cycle emphasizes the multifaceted development of Cubism, which goes back to the primitives and the influence of Gauguin and Cezanne.
