Silver Age Harlequins. K.A. Somov, N.N. Sapunov, S.Yu. Sudeikin

Exhibition November 23, 2018 − May 19, 2019
The 150th anniversary of the painter and graphic artist Konstantin Somov (1869–1939) timed the new graphic exhibition of the Tretyakov Gallery “Harlequins of the Silver Age. K.A. Somov, N.N. Sapunov, S.Yu. Sudeikin ".

A distinctive feature of this exhibition is that it is built as three chamber solo exhibitions of famous artists of the Silver Age - K.A. Somov, N.N. Sapunova, S.Yu. Sudeikin, united by the theme of Harlequin.

The name of the exhibition is not accidental, because for that era the figure of Harlequin is a metaphor that embodies the spirit of the time, intoxicating and bitter irony of the culture of the end of the century. The image and appearance of the Harlequin of each of these artists has its own - somewhat similar, somewhat radically different. For each of them, the Harlequin mask is significant as a special attribute that forms his work, as a certain marker of his personal and creative position. It is noteworthy that they often depicted themselves and each other in the image of Harlequin.
