Gainsborough Family Album

Exhibition November 22, 2018 − February 3, 2019
Family portraits are a constant phenomenon of our life. Thomas Gainsborough was the first British artist to write himself and his family members regularly. At the exhibition"Gainsborough Family Album" In the National Portrait Gallery in London, a number of his favorite works are presented. The curators tell how these portraits not only reflected his feelings, but also helped to develop his career.

The exhibition includes more than fifty works collected from around the world. Some of them have never before been exhibited. They reflect Gainsborough’s career from adolescence to maturity, telling the story of how an 18th century provincial artist achieved fame and fortune in the capital.
