STPI Gallery in Singapore presents a large solo exhibition of Su Pieng "Master of composition". The exhibition consists of 52 paintings, as well as sculptures and works on paper, collected from private collections. For the author, an important aspect of creating a picture, in addition to technical skills, was composition. He constantly experimented, creating many works of art throughout his career. In his works a lot of nature, color, national Asian notes and unprecedented European beauties.
Chong Soo Pieng (1917–1983) was born in Fujian Province, at the age of 16 began his art education at the Academy of Fine Arts in Xiamen. He left China in 1945, briefly moved to Hong Kong, and then settled in Singapore in 1946. From 1947 to 1961 he worked as a teacher at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nanyang. Su Pieng is considered one of the pioneers among the modernists of South Asia. His works are in many museums around the world.
