Guests from Naples. Artemisia Gentileschi and contemporaries

The Pushkin Museum. A.S. Pushkin presents the exhibition “Guests from Naples. Artemisia Gentileschi and contemporaries ", which includes three works of the first half of the XVII century - “Judith and Holofernes” by Artemisia Gentileschi, “Angel with dices and tunic of Christ” by Simon Vouet, “Holy Agatha” by Francesco Garvino from the collection of the Capodimonte Museum, Italy, as well as the works of their contemporaries - Guido Reni, Gverchino, Simone Kantarini from the collection of the Pushkin Museum.

Each exhibit presented at the exhibition reflects in its own way the deep influence of Caravaggism on the work of Italian artists. At the same time, these works show different aspects of this trend, showing different trends within the Italian painting of the Baroque era, Karavajism and academicism (classicism).

The exhibition "Guests from Naples" was a kind of introduction to the large-scale exposition of the collection. Capodimonte Museum and Royal Parkplanned for 2020.
