Insomnia”- Lee Husiyado’s second exhibition at the Lisson Gallery, which culminated in several years spent developing a technologically radical 21st century landscape painting project using robotic equipment and surveillance cameras. The artist created a drawing machine to process this continuous flow of images and transcribe an ever-changing stream of people into a complex network of abstract symbols on the canvas. This machine consists of a scaffolding tower, on which a simple canvas and a robotic brush are mounted, held in the air by a network of wires that pull and push the pigment through the surface, depending on the images transmitted through computers and screens.
The name "Insomnia" refers to the ability of the machine to work constantly and quietly, without fatigue and despair. The mechanism will complete the artist's internal struggle with himself, which will lead us to the future, when artificial intelligence will allow artists to focus more on what does not allow them to sleep at night.
