In the pavilion“Worker and Kolkhoz Woman” at VDNH a unique exhibition is held "Main characters. Selected works from the collection of the Samara Art Museum ». For the first time in Moscow, such a large-scale display of iconic canvases by Russian artists and rare exhibits of the museum’s eastern collection is held. The exhibition is held within the framework of the Resident intermuseum exchange project.

Samara Museumpresented a collection of more than 130 masterpieces, among which are works of Russian visual art of the first half of the 18th century - the 70s of the 20th century of various genres: from a secular portrait to the avant-garde. At the exhibition you can see famous canvases by Russian artists, such as The Two Mothers by V. Makovsky, The Winter by A. Savrasov, The Boyaris by V. I. Surikov, The Composer by A. G. Rubinstein by I. Repin, The Landscape A. Lentulova, “Building a House” by O. Rozanova, as well as works by I. Kramskoy, I. Aivazovsky, V. Serov, A. Benoit, P. Konchalovsky, S. Adlivankin, D. Burliuk.

The exhibition presents a collection of Oriental art of the Samara Museum: miniatures, panels from China, Japan, India, XVII – XIX centuries from the collection of Alfred von Wakano, one of the patrons of the Samara Museum since its inception.
