Exhibition Oleksy Novakivskogo "Sacred art"

In the halls Artistic and memorial Museum Olena Kulchytska the exhibition of works of the famous Ukrainian artist Oleksa Novakivskogo "Sacred art" dedicated to the 145 anniversary from the birthday of the artist. The exhibition presented works from the collection of the National Museum in Lviv im. Andrey Sheptytsky, but also rare exhibits from private collections.

The exhibition presents more than 30 paintings and graphic compositions Oleksy Novakivskogo on religious themes. His works recognizable and original: the intensity of experience and emotion the artist conveyed through body movement and form, establishing its special symbolism. As for the stylistic analogies, often next to the name Novakivskogo featured the concept of "post-impressionism".

The main place at the exhibition "Sacral art" is the image of the virgin. Working on it, the artist followed his own road of creating a national form, based on the achievements of monumental sculpture of the Italian Renaissance, ancient Ukrainian icon painting and Baroque. Icon "the virgin in the silver robes" — an example of the use and reinterpretation of ancient traditions of Ukrainian iconography.
