The Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest acquired in 2018 at Christie's auction for £ 5.8 million the work of Anthony van Dyck, one of the greatest masters of European portraiture. Wedding portrait of Princess Maria Henrietta Stewart (1631 - 1660), the eldest daughter of the English King Charles I - this masterpiece, completed several months before the artist died in 1641.
The portrait is presented to the public. at the exhibitionorganized for this special occasion. The image of Princess Maria Henrietta is complemented by a selection of portraits of royal children and the early works of Van Dyck from the museum's collection.
