Sergey Zaryanko. To the 200th anniversary of the birth

The State Tretyakov Gallery conducts chamber exhibition of Sergei Konstantinovich Zaryanko (1818–1870)... Portrait painter, master of the interior genre, he also painted icons and performed miniatures.

The exhibition, dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the artist, presents paintings created during different periods of creativity. The exhibition is complemented by a portrait of the artist himself, made by his student A. M. Kolesov.

S.K. Zaryanko was recognized as one of the most outstanding and virtuosic masters of painting of the mid-19th century. The author throughout his creative life improved the aesthetics of realism and reached the heights of realistic transmission of light and shadow, materials, colors and texture.

Zaryanko contributed to the development of the national school of painting, not only as an artist, but also as the author of several works on the theory of art and teaching methods. He taught drawing in various educational institutions, receiving the title of senior professor of the Moscow School of Painting and Sculpture.
