Images of fire in Christian art
Exhibition February 6 − April 14, 2019
In the Central Museum of Old Russian Culture and Art. Andrei Rublev hosts an exhibition "Images of Fire in Christian Art".
The exhibition, dedicated to the image of the fire element, will feature rare and unknown icons, engravings, wall paintings, icon samples, illustrated manuscripts and old printed books, as well as decorative and applied arts from the collection of the Andrei Rublev Museum, State Tretyakov Gallery, Russian Museum icons and private collections.
The fire occupies an important place in many religions and philosophical systems, including Christianity. The exhibition presents more than 60 works, where in different contexts there is an image of fiery elements, allowing to know and understand the whole variety of meanings and meanings.
