Rembrandt Portraits

Exhibition March 3 − June 9, 2019
Rembrandt complicated the portrait genre by creating identities with props, lighting, and ambiguous compositions, which leads us to ask: "What is a portrait?".

«Rembrandt Portraits"- Exhibition of the Chicago Institute of Art, offering a look at the approach of Rembrandt to portrait art, which is much more complicated than it might seem at first.

The exhibition demonstrates Rembrandt’s brilliant mastery as an artist, as well as his deep knowledge of historical objects and art history. His works not only glorify the historical genre, but also foresee the future, in which a person is something created by the artist, and humanity is expressed by ordinary people.
