Charles M. Russell. Women in his life and art

Exhibition November 20, 2018 − April 14, 2019
Charles M. Russell, best known for his depiction of the American West as the world of men, has depicted an amazing number of women throughout his artistic career. While many of his portrayals of women correspond to the common stereotypes and artistic trends of America at the turn of the century, his ideas were more subtle and action-oriented than many contemporaries.

Based on innovative research by Ginger C. Renner,Exhibition will include 60 works painted in oils, watercolor, pen, ink and bronze, which cover Russell's career from 1890 to 1926
