Manuel Mathieu. Wu ji

HdM GALLERY in Beijing presents a solo exhibition "Wu ji»Haitian painter Manuel Mathieu. In his works, the author portrays the passion of Haitian folk art and the tension of Bacon painting. This kind of cultural interweaving reflects the artist’s transnational experience and characterizes his particular visual language. The master works at the intersection of abstraction and imagery.

Manuel Mathieu was born in 1986 in Port-au-Prince. After receiving a bachelor's degree in fine arts and media art at the University of Quebec in Montreal, he received a master's degree in fine arts from Goldsmith University in London. He exhibited at international exhibitions, including the ICA (Institute of Contemporary Art) and the Tiwani Gallery in London, the Grand Palace in Paris, the American Museum in Washington and the Kavi Gupta Gallery in Chicago. His works are represented in the national collections of both countries. Canada and Haiti. Lives and works in Montreal, Canada.
