V. M. Maksimov "The Old Man"

In the Kaluga Museum of Fine Arts an exhibition of one painting "V.M. Maximov (1844 - 1911) The Old Man. 1874. The project is dedicated to the 175th anniversary of the artist.

The outstanding peredvizhnik artist Vasily Maximovitch Maksimov (1844–1911) entered the history of Russian art as the author of such famous paintings as “Grandmother’s Tales” (1867), “The Sorcerer’s Coming to a Peasant Wedding” (1875), "Everything is in the past" (1889) and several other works. The main theme of the artist's work is the life of peasantry in post-reform Russia. In addition to genre paintings, the artistic heritage of V.M. Maximov consists of portraits, landscapes, his graphic works (drawings, etchings, engravings) are also known.

The collection of the Kaluga Museum of Fine Arts is a portrait of an old man, written by the artist in 1874. This picture is devoted to the exhibition.
