Eddie Martinez: Fast Eddie

«Fast eddie”Is the personal exhibition of the artist from Brooklyn Eddie Martinez, organized by the Detroit Museum of Modern Art in close collaboration with the artist.
The masterful abstract compositions of Martinez include the artist’s trademark motif with floating heads and broad strokes. Martinez's work covers not only traditional urban culture, but also painting, automatism and surrealism. It combines painting and graphics, abstraction and representation in unconventional ways. His practice, permeated by a sense of personal iconography, often combines such characteristic imaginative elements as people with a squint-eyed and eclectic headgear, with gesturing abstract blocks of color. Energetic and coarse, his paintings are an aggressive use of color and texture with various combinations of oil, enamel, spray paint and collage on canvas.
