Exhibition February 2 − May 5, 2019
While the main focus is on impressionism, the exhibition "Van Gogh, Monet, Degas and their times"contain examples of French painting of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, with different styles from romanticism to cubism.

Among the exhibits are paintings by Vincent Van Gogh, Edouard Manet, Edgar Degas, Pira Renoir, Gustave Caibotte and Claude Monet.

The exhibition is not just a review of artistic and historical achievements: it also gives an idea of the tastes of one of the great American couple collecting twentieth century Paul Mellon and his wife Rachel. Philanthropists, as well as collectors, Mellons gave artistic gifts to such outstanding institutions as the National Gallery of Art, the Yale Center for British Art and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, where Paul Mellon served as confidant for four decades.
