Taken from the famous Rubella family collection, "30 americans"represent the American experience, narrated from different perspectives by 30 African-American artists, including Jean-Michel Basquiat, Carrie Mae Weems, Kerry James Marshall, Mikalen Thomas, Rashid Johnson, Kara Walker, Hank Willis Thomas and Keinde Wiley.
With more than 80 paintings, drawings, prints, sculptures, photographs and video films, influential artists from “30 Americans” make a significant contribution to the complex dialogues surrounding race, history, identity and beauty that have shaped modern American art and life for four decades.
