"Bye dew still on roses"- exhibition of artist Ebony J. Patterson and the most significant presentation of her work to date.
The exposition includes examples of Patterson's work performed in the last five years, embedded in a new installation environment that refers to a night garden. Patterson's works, known for their drawings, tapestries, videos, sculptures and installations using surfaces covered with flowers, sequins, lace and beads, explore embellishment forms associated with youth culture in communities deprived of civil rights.
Her neo-baroque works are dedicated to violence, masculinity, "bling", visibility and invisibility in the postcolonial context of her native Jamaica and in black youth culture all over the world.
This exhibition focuses on the role that gardens played in its practice, which is referred to as a place of beauty and burial; an environment filled with fleeting aesthetics and mourning.
