"The unreliable history of the Punjabi communities exists in the missing archives: books, oral manuscripts on history, records and tapes hidden in cardboard boxes, yellow photos in cleaned albums stuffed in closets and on shelves, in basements. Looking at these sources, I clutch at everything I can find, and hold on for long enough to swallow whole images and stories, and then resurrect them in works of art. My drawings depict psychologically fraught landscapes of people living in such an alarmingly alien place — in melancholic private and nteryrior or proudly built Sikh temples, as well as household and material cultures of life, which they led and continue to lead "- Jagdip Raina.
