Oleg Vukolov

Exhibition April 25 − June 10, 2019
State Russian Museum presents the exhibition "Oleg Vukolov".

The exhibition presents more than 50 paintings and graphic works of the Russian artist.

Oleg Vukolov was born in 1933 in the city of Pyatigorsk, Stavropol Territory, graduated from the Leningrad Academy of Arts and was a member of a number of significant exhibition projects and European forums of contemporary art. Now the artist lives and works in France.

The exhibition includes works of the last decades, where the main characters of the paintings are ... pillows. They are inseparable from human life. However, Oleg Vukolov pillows become more and plastic unit, an integral part of his artistic space. For the author, pillows are a kind of archetype, representing traces of human existence. They save memory, allowing to abstract from the direct image of a person through an appeal to more complex matters and images.

The exhibition also presents a series of works "Sails", created by the artist in a creative workshop in Marseille.
