Carlos Hames de Francisco: Modern nobility

Exhibition May 1 − June 1, 2019
The Miller Gallery proudly welcomes the beautiful artist Carlos Gamez de Francisco. The artist, fine art photographer, Cuban Gamez de Francisco is the mighty voice of his generation and country.

In his works, the younger generation of Cubans, apparently dressed in luxurious costumes, symbolizing the relationship of past and present. However, models actually use ordinary items found in their homes, such as kitchen towels, curtains, table covers, bedspreads, plastic bags, clothes pegs, and stainless steel wool. The paintings recreate what power means by using reprofiled objects to depict minorities.

"Modern nobility"expands the concept of uncertainty of what real power means. It is about expanding the meaning of power and building hope - hopes to be, hopes of success and hopes to be remembered.
