Monica Angle. The combination of painting and engraving
March 8 − June 30 • Burchfield Penney Arts Center, 1300 Elmwood Ave, Buffalo, New York
About the exhibition
"Works combining painting and engraving techniques. Using monoprinting processes, I apply color layers, transferring water carriers from a flat surface onto paper, wood or canvas. Creating a color over the layer captures the traces left by water when it moves over the surface. Even if I I repeat the gesture, it will not be repeated twice. These gestures are combined to offer space as ways and clarifications of the form in the image. As in the case of memory of the place, the images generate a type of map, recording the channels on which they are based and siderations, "- says Engle.
