Art by Jack Malotta

Exhibition June 8 − October 20, 2019
Jack Malotte makes works of art that glorify the landscapes of the Great Basin, with a unique focus on contemporary political issues faced by indigenous people seeking to protect and preserve access to their lands. Malotte brings strange humor to his work, even as he delves into a topic that is sometimes serious and sobering. Malotta’s latest work revises historical narratives and myths about the American West, refers to the traditions and legends of Western Shoshons and yours, and highlights the long-standing political, environmental and legal struggles of indigenous communities.
