Life everywhere

Exhibition May 29 − June 30, 2019
Russian Academy of Arts and Krokin Gallery present an exhibition of works by Konstantin Batynkov "Life is everywhere".

The exposition presents a series of new black-and-white large-format canvases on which Batynkov, with his specific Russian irony, bordering on the “Onegin” spline, paints his native country, observed by him either from the side of civilization or from space trolley on Korovinsky highway.

The motivation of the majority of what Batynkov does is not connected with the mechanical creation of fantasy worlds and intricate mythologies, but with a special, very individual view and attitude to reality, a special perception of what exists around. It is hidden in the landscapes of endless garages, industrial zones, power lines, electric trains smelling of electricity. In this prose of days, in these zones of alienation, it would seem that things should not happen: life goes on here - people live, give birth, dream, climb somewhere, fall ill, die. Life is everywhere, and Batynkov simply draws it, almost without regard to what is happening. He does not place accents, he covers the panorama, and the focus of his interest is unpredictable.
