About the exhibition
The Detroit Institute of Art presents to visitors a rich history of collecting African American art in the Detroit region by private collectors featuring works by Romare Bearden, Al Loving, Charles McGee and Gilda Snowden.

Exhibition "Detroit collections: African American art from private collections"will demonstrate the interest of local collectors in a variety of media, styles, genres, influences and themes that inspired them to collect works of art created by African Americans.
