Whistler Engravings: Gertrude Kosovsky Collection

Exhibition April 30 − September 1, 2019
The Frick Collection presents an exhibitionWhistler Engravings: Gertrude Kosovsky Collection", which includes fifteen engravings and one pastel from the gift of the Kosovo family. The collection was formed by Ms. Kosovsky over five decades with the support of her husband, Dr. Harry Kosovsky, and includes twenty-seven etchings, fourteen lithographs and one pastel, which vary from Whistler’s early etchings, from the end of the 1850s to the lithographs of the end of the 1890s. Most of them are impressions made during the artist’s life, some of them were published in his main publications, while others were created for periodicals, and thus cover the various aspects of the fruitful work of the American expatriate as a printer.
