Sonia was the first woman whose lifetime personal exhibition was held in the Louvre. And at the age of 90 years, the artist received the highest award of France — the Legion of honor. Delaunay Paris dictated fashion, so her paintings are often hung not in museums and private collections and in the cabinets and closets. Her designs consistently produced the bill, but Sonia herself is believed their tissues "nothing more than an exercise in color".
Together with her second husband Robert Sonia Delaunay created simultanism (or "orphism," as he called it Guillaume Apollinaire). By their own definition – "motion image in color in the light." The couple did not dare to even the fauves: declared that the color is more important than plot. "I think the new painting started with us: our color made her more free," recalled Sonia Delaunay.
