American Art and the Vietnam War 1965–1975

Organized by the Smithsonian Museum of American ArtArtists Answer: American Art and the Vietnam War 1965–1975”Demonstrates innovative responses by artists, often on the streets and in other public places. The exhibition presents about 100 works of 58 of the most provocative artists of this period. The escalation of the war coincided with the growth of feminism and the black art movement, which expanded the criticism of artists. The installation also covers protests organized after violence against protesters during the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
