Artemisia

Exhibition April 4 − July 26, 2020
At a time when women artists were not easily accepted, Artemisia Gentileschi was exceptional. She had a long and successful career as an artist, spanning over 40 years, and she was the first woman to become a member of the Academy of Artists, the Academy of Del Del Disigno, in Florence.

About 35 works from public and private collections around the world come together to give a selective overview of Artemisia's career: from her studies in Rome, where she learned to draw under the guidance of her father Orazio Gentileschi, to her stay in Florence, where she established herself as a person both professionally and the last 25 years of her life, during which she founded a studio in Naples and took a short trip to London.

The exhibition features some of her most famous paintings and self-portraits, as well as recently discovered works.
