The main figure of impressionism, Berthe Morisot, remains less known today than her counterparts Monet, Degas or Renoir.
Onexhibition traced the exceptional career of the artist, who became an important figure of the Paris avant-garde from the late 1860s until her untimely death in 1895.
Painting allows Berthe Morisot to explore several topics of modern life, such as the intimacy of bourgeois life, the taste of the resort and gardens, the importance of fashion, housework for women. At the same time, the boundaries between internal / external, private / public, completed / unfinished are erased. For her, painting should strive to "fix what is happening."
