Exhibition October 11, 2019 − February 2, 2020
Stuttgart State Gallery Celebrates 250th Death AnniversaryGiovanni Battista Tiepolo(1696-1770) March 27, 2020 an exhibition dedicated to the great Venetian master.

The exhibition shows the outstanding holdings of the Tiepolo State Gallery in the wider context of the selection of international loans for paintings, prints and drawings. This is the first exhibition in German-speaking countries, which covers the entire period of the artist’s career and presents his work in its true diversity of themes, genre and technology.

The exhibition combines paintings of mythological and historical plots, as well as examples of too often underestimated religious compositions of the artist. The exhibition sheds light on Tiepolo's virtuoso narrative and its fascinating visual language, which combines elegance and theatricality with cunning humor and even caricature.

The exhibition seeks to initiate a reassessment of the artist's work and focus on Tiepolo's limitless imagination on the threshold between the Baroque era and the Enlightenment.
